What can I say – Beechwood Cottage is a home from home in every way
Jackie and Iain were so warm, friendly and helpful – both before and during my stay; offering tips for walks and restaurants etc. On arrival I was impressed by the covid policies; asking guests to wear a mask when moving around in the communal areas and using anti-bacterial gel before entering the property and before using the breakfast room. I found this very reassuring given the current climate. The rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The property and rooms are also exceptionally clean – I’m a clean freak so this made me super happy =) The toiletries supplied were of a very high quality – I highlight this as mostly those supplied are very basic with conditioner that doesn’t actually condition your hair or some odd combination of body wash come shampoo is supplied – not the case at Beechwood thankfully! The breakfast is delicious with a good variety of options. The whiskey bar is also a nice touch when returning from a long day’s hiking. The location is fantastic, nestled just below Glencoe Lochan (a lovely and easy going walk) and within easy walking/driving distances to a good selection of restaurants. The cottage provides a drying room which is super useful when out hiking, plus a laundry service (with the best smelling laundry detergent – I must find out the brand name). As someone very well travelled I’ve seen both the very worst and the very best accommodation in my time – but Beechwood has made it into my top list which is no mean feat. A huge thank you to both Jackie and Iain – you made me feel so at home I felt I’d come to stay with friends and my time in Glencoe was the highlight of my trip around Scotland as a result. I was very sad to leave but fingers crossed I shall be able to visit again in the not too distant future.
